A Roar in the Mighty Himalayas
before the journey!
24.07.2011
After planning then comes execution part!
since this being my first long MotorCycle journey on the bike, lot of things to be purchased.
So had a huge list to name a few important ones.
1.Saddle bags @Cramster,
2.Kneeprotector
3.Jacket (Leather or Riding)
4. Shoes
5.WaterProof pants
6.Bags
Medicines and so on..
and now comes the most important thing "Sending the bikes to Jammu"
Well first contacted BlueDart a month ago, they quoted 3K for sending the bikes till Jammu.. and he needed a max of 10 days from bangalore to jammu and asked us to call after 2 weeks. Later 12 days before our journey, we tried to contact the Bluedart guy, as a shock!!! the guy didnt respond to our calls, and now that the time was nearing we had to send the bikes so contacted the bluedart customercare and got a new no.. to our badluck it was the regional manager.
and the quote we got from him was really surprising he quoted 5K all of a sudden 2K hike.. and when we asked earlier he had quoted 3K and now its 5K Y is that so?? then he replies saying the fuel charges have gone up! 2K fuel charges??? too much isnt it??
so we thought this could be tricks!!! so we didnt stop, then we checked with AFL, and DHL all these quoted 4K. then we again tried to the Bluedart guy who had quoted 3K, and luckily he received the call and then he said, we people did a mistake by talking to the regional manager! but still he says, you people come down to the godown and then i shall give you the best possible price..
The DAY is ON! so we went early from office.. thought of coming back soon.. reached the godown, and then after a long discussion, the final and best price we got was 3500 for courier and 500 for packing. the next step was to drain out all the petrol from the tank, Though we were cautious before itself that we shouldnt have too much petrol as we have to drain it.
My friend had a jerrycan so he drained out all the petrol from his tank, and i didnt had anything, then the hunt for bottles started.. got some 2 ltrs bottle from a nearby workshop, then started to drain the petrol was just flowing didnt stop even after 2 ltrs, then 1 ltr and then still it wasnt on Reserve, then thought for sometime.. didnt know what to do and how much is left in?? then filled that 1lt into my friends jerry can, filled up that 1ltr bottle again... then it finally comes to reserve.. then iknew there is still 2lts of petrol in my tank.. some suggestions from the Blue dart co.. they say its ok sir, just 2 liters rt? no 1 wil take it leave it as is.. but i was sure this petrol was definitely going to their tanks, so went to a nearby shop purchased a 2liter water bottle had a quick stats! petrol a ltr costs 75bucks and 2 lts 150 so no mind wasting 35bucks on a water bottle. purchase the water bottle and asked the shop guy to fill dat water and give me the empty bottle, he said NO showingi his attitude, the reply was "i have enough water for today so i dont want it". i then i had to drainout the water and then quickly comeback.. as it was already 10mins by the time i had started to find the bottle, then quickly take out all the petrol from my tank and then keep all the bottles in my bag, and left the place..
And waiting for the D-Day
